Class information
Snacks
The preschool provides nutritious snack every day. The children will learn about the foods they are being served, pouring skills, and manners.

Clothing
Children learn by doing, exploring, and by expressing themselves through hands on activities. Therefore dress your children in comfortable, washable clothing so your child can feel free to be messy. Please remember shoes during the winter months when children wear boots to school.

Outdoor Activities
Send outside clothing that is appropriate for the weather with your child each day. We go outside to play every day that it is not too cold or raining. We are unable to accommodate requests for your child to remain inside because we must maintain the right ratio of adults to children on the playground, and we cannot leave your child in the classroom unsupervised. If you feel your child is not well enough to go outside, they are not well enough to attend preschool.

Arrival
The classroom doors are closed until five minutes before class begins to allow the teacher and assistant to prepare. You must bring your child to the door of the classroom and sign them in. Please do not drop children off at the outside church doors.

Leaving
Please come to the classroom door to pick children up and sign them out. To ensure their safety, children will never be released to unauthorized persons. Authorized persons are those listed on the form in your child's file. If no one picks up the child within fifteen minutes after class ends, the teacher will attempt to call you or your emergency contact. Please remember to check your child's folder and coat hook each day.

Celebrations
We celebrate each child’s birthday. If you wish you may bring a special item to pass out to the class such as a pencil or stickers. If your child's birthday is in the summer, you can arrange with the teacher to celebrate sometime during the year. We celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines day and Easter with a Christian emphasis. We do not celebrate Halloween. The 4-5 year old classes will have an ending program the last day of school. The 3-4 year old class will have an ending celebration.

Bathroom Procedures
Children must be potty trained to attend preschool. No pull-ups can be worn. We do, however, expect that accidents sometimes occur especially when children are busy playing. Our policy is that a child can have up to three accidents and then we will discuss the situation with you to determine what to do. Each case will be reviewed individually.

When a child has an accident, the staff will take the child to the bathroom, and assist the child with getting cleaned up and putting on fresh clothing. It would be helpful if you would have a change of clothing in their backpack. For emergencies we have extra underwear and clothing. The clothing will need to be washed and returned to the preschool. We use new underwear each time a child needs emergency clothing, so you will keep it, but we request that if your child uses more than three pieces of underwear for accidents, that you purchase a replacement package of underwear for the preschool. Your child’s wet or soiled clothing will be put into a plastic bag and put in the child’s backpack.

There is one regular bathroom break scheduled before snack time. The children will be taken to the bathroom by one of the staff any time they say they need to use the bathroom.

Field Trips (M-W-F Classes)
Field trip goals:
  1. Experience riding on a bus.
  2. Learn about safe, appropriate behavior on a bus.
  3. Learn about the dynamic of going in a group-safety, listening skills, planning and time.
  4. Assist the child to overcome any anxiety about learning experiences beyond the preschool classroom.
  5. Enhance the child's concept about the larger community.
